YAP activation in chronically injured liver leads to a wound healing response characterized by (A) YAP/TEAD mediated transcriptional activation of inflammatory genes in KCs leading to the release of inflammatory cytokines; (B) inhibition of NLRP3 inflammasome and induction of M2 polarization in KCs, accompanied by the release of anti-inflammatory and reparative cytokines; (C) trans-differentiation of Q-HSCs to M-HSCs, which is due to Hedgehog/ YAP-mediated stimulation of glutaminolysis in Q-HSCs; and (D) induction of Cyr61 expression in hepatocytes, which promotes macrophage recruitment
